INTRODUCTION

HICO Dynamic Positioning Centre is located in Tianjin university Tech-park in TEDA, Tianjin, which is one of fifteen university based Scientific technological parks under selection and co-approval of the Scientific and Technological Administrative Department and the Educational Department of China.

The centre owns one set of type Navis-Trainer Professional 5000 class-approved dynamic positioning simulator. The centre has also established effective administrative and training system in accordance with regulation and rules as stipulated by the Nautical Institute and International Marine Contractor Association, under approval of the NI, authorized to provide training for DP operators.

A trainee can obtain DPO certificate issued by the NI, while adequate sea experience is reached after his attendance in two separately arranged induction and simulator classes and qualified with satisfactory scores in on-line examines respectively.

As DP control is one of the most sophisticated control system relevant to engine, electrical, power distribution, sensors and instruments, electrical and mechanical driving, automation and vessel steering, we can also provide other courses including DP awareness, DP positioning reference system, DPE to suit need of whom are involved in design, management and maintenance for DP vessel.

TRAINING EQUIPMENT

The training system of HICO comprises of one set of Class B bridge with dynamic positioning simulator, eight sets of student station, and one set instructor's station.

The  simulators are embedded in big amount of data bases for different area of sea and variety of DP capable vessels, enable the student to get adequate practice such as piping laying, cable laying, diving support, sea lifting, approaching a target, offshore drilling operation and etc. Even, with properly setting of environmental condition, practices at night or storming are also available.
